The RVCF Spring Conference took place May 7-10th at the Marriott Crystal Gateway in Arlington, VA. This was a new venue for us and the event staff did a remarkable job of making the RVCF Team and our guests feel welcome.
The agenda was packed with retailer only, supplier only, and general (combined) sessions offering something for everyone.
RVCF shared their recent survey results with both retailers and suppliers around "Fill Rate Challenges" and this information has been formatted into an RVCF white paper available for download here.
Retailers and suppliers held their regular "open forum" discussions and then, by popular request, both groups joined together and discussed numerous current challenges, including how to reduce shortages, managing deductions, and best practices for onboarding and portal management.
Retailer/Supplier One-on-One meetings gave trading partners an opportunity to connect face-to-face to discuss their unique business relationships and solve disconnects.
Extended sessions focused on doing business with Walmart allowed suppliers greater insight into best practices as well as in-depth Retail Link training. Additionally, the launch of RVCF's E-Commerce Working Group introduced timely information regarding Amazon, including their upcoming images and attributes initiative and deductions management.
When they weren't participating in sessions, first time attendees and veteran RVCF supporters enjoyed camaraderie and informal networking while participating in both a guided tour of Washington, DC's monuments and a dinner cruise on the scenic Potomac River (generously sponsored by Yusen Logistics).
It's always refreshing to see so many companies making the effort to work together to address their most complex issues. The RVCF Team is already busy finalizing plans for our September Workshop in New York City as well as our Fall 2017 Conference in Phoenix, AZ. We look forward to seeing you there!
