From the Desk of Kim Zablocky:
A Look Ahead - Two Great Programs

RVCF LogoRVCF will host three events this year. The first will take place in the Dallas area in just two short weeks and you can read all of the highlights in next month's RVCF LINK. But right now I'd like to focus on the next two. We have a Retail Only focused event and our ever popular Annual Fall Conference.

June 2-4 2013: Retail Only Conference
RVCF gets into the trenches as we explore best practices of two competencies – supplier relationship management and inventory planning and replenishment, two key elements of successfully running a retail enterprise. Here are some of the highlights for each track respectively:

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Vendor scorecards and the metrics that drive them
  • Vendor communication portals best practices
  • Compliance programs and deduction policy
  • Receiving audit and ASN accuracy
  • Returns handling from both a omni-channel (from consumer) as well as RTV's for both non-defective or defective product perspectives
  • How supply chain and vendor management teams can work with the buying office to drive supplier performance

Inventory Planning & Replenishment:

  • The art of inventory planning - the science and systems that drive successful forecasting
  • Lean inventory/smart inventory - examining best practices for managing in stock and selling more with less
  • Predictive analytics' case study with SAP and Home Depot
  • Global inventory visibility and lead times
  • Inventory planning, allocation and replenishment for retail winners

If you haven't already registered, don't wait too long. This is a conference you won't want to miss.

November 3-6 2013: Annual Fall Conference
Once again we find ourselves at the Kierland Resort this coming November, offering our members a five-track program.

Here are some highlights:

  • Keynote Jim Carroll, a futurist will explore the consumer of the future
  • Federal Reserve Bank economist will cover talking points on the U.S. economy going into 2014
  • 600+ one-on-one meetings where retailers meet with merchandise suppliers individually
  • Retailer/supplier case studies
    • RFID, Accurate Collaborative Planning & Forecasting, VMI
  • RFID sessions from retailers, academia and supplier perspectives, respectively
  • Floor Ready VAS issues
    • Black hanger
  • Retailer's supplier collaboration sessions
  • Returns to vendors, from both defective and non-defective views
  • Building brand awareness from an omni-channel perspective
  • Successfully doing business with online retailers

Two great programs, both with valuable takeaways that can be deployed upon return from either or both events. RVCF focuses on the "speed to market" task of the day, using successful best practices that improve margins for both retailers and their merchandise suppliers. No one in retail should be afraid of collaboration as communication breeds a stronger relationship!
