A Letter to Our Retailer Friends
To our Retailer Friends,
Why should my business engage in the RVCF? Simply put, in this age of omni-channel retailing, there is very little opportunity for price optimization as profit has to be driven by improved business process management. That said, the real place to improve bottom lines is speeding goods to market. Though easier said than done, retailers need to work closely with their merchandise suppliers to assure that goods flow in an error-free environment.
For years retailers relied on compliance programs to instruct suppliers on how to label, pack, and ship goods to that retailer's specifications. With the ever-changing improving supply chain and software efficiencies, retailers need to improve both communication with their suppliers, but can also gain helpful insight on how to best manage those improvements by networking with their own peer group. For instance, we're taking a deep dive in retail-supplier scorecarding this November looking at the metrics and the best practices for a successful scorecard program.
RVCF doesn't get into your business - we promote your business. Some retailers have heard that RVCF is a deduction management group. We see deductions as a failure to execute, a Band-Aid on a gushing wound. Deductions say retailers didn't communicate to their suppliers properly and the supplier didn't take the necessary steps to identify errors in their process.
By sending your supplier management team to RVCF events, you allow them to communicate requirements directly to your suppliers and meet with them individually to discuss pressing issues that are causing disruptions or delays in merchandise flow. You also allow them to roundtable with other major retailers to discuss supplier management and hear new and innovative procedures/processes that improve shipment accuracy, receiving audit, and on-time delivery.
RVCF also gives you a platform to talk about new initiatives with your suppliers. Retailers have historically collaborated with top ten suppliers and our conferences give you access to not only those top ten, but the next tier as well.
If you want to expand your ability to collaborate with your suppliers, network with other retailers and take in some 60 educational programs pertinent to your day-to-day retail operations then you need to check out the RVCF Annual Fall Conference ICE - Innovation, Collaboration & Execution, the three ingredients to a successful enterprise!
