From the Desk of Kim Zablocky:
Spring Conference Fever

Ah! With 2013 behind us, we are now into the 2014 planning stage. By now, you have received multiple surveys, a couple of examples of which for strategic metrics that drive supplier scorecards and RTV's and end of lifecycle value. The results of these surveys should shed light on issues within the industry and drive a number of interesting initiatives.

This year's RVCF Spring Conference will be held at beautiful Sanibel Island, FL, May 5-7, 2014, with a duel offering of a retail only program as well as our merchandise supplier track; of course, we'll always make room for one-on-ones. So, both retailers as well as suppliers will enjoy social events and 25+ programs designed to make you and your business more efficient, leaner and nimbler.

Our focus this coming Conference will address all of the above. But, moving forward, we really want to hear from you. What are your pain points? In a perfect world, what tools or processes would allow you to reduce costs and improve efficiencies? RFID is gaining a foothold in the retail psyche; what are suppliers doing to integrate these new tags into their sourcing supply chains? We also want to look at the way suppliers are managing 860's (PO change) and whether or not they are employing the 865 (PO change acknowledgement) or just relying on the 997 (functional acknowledgement) instead. A questionnaire will be going out shortly; please be kind enough to respond.

Plus, if you're a merchandise supplier, don't miss out on Vendor Consulting Group, a company comprised of past Walmart employees that managed the supplier claims department, is presenting at the Spring Conference. They know Walmart's claims practices as it relates to shortages, damages, rework, and returns. This two session program with Q&A will walk you through the process of resolving your claims in an expedited manner. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn "best practices" directly from past Walmart managers. You'll be able to improve your processes with Walmart without the loss of goodwill with them as a retail customer. There's a way to go toe-to-toe with a retailer and still walk away friends - this is it!

See you there!
