From the Desk of Kim Zablocky:
It's Time to Expedite the Investigation and Reconciliation of Deduction Claims

RVCF LogoIf there's one thing that causes angst and frustration with merchandise suppliers, it's the excruciatingly tedious process of investigating and reconciling retailer deductions for errors in order fulfillment. These deductions represent up to 1 percent of gross invoice and a total of $4 billion to $6 billion per year.

How Standardized Images and Attributes Benefit Retailers, Suppliers and Consumers

In the early days of ecommerce, you had a handful of images and attributes for each product. You had a handful of websites selling these products. In the grand scheme of things, it wasn't a big deal if product images and attributes, and methods for sending and receiving this data, varied from retailer to retailer and supplier to supplier.

Ask a 3PL Expert: Drop Shipping
Scott Weiss, Port Logistics Group

Q. Our business has seen a huge shift this past year in drop ship requests. Our entire outbound shipping profile has changed. We have gone from a 100% case picking profile to about 60% case pick/40% each pick and we have all kinds of service failures with our 3PL. What is going on?

Collaborative Replenishment for Apparel – It's Easier than You May Think
Tzveti Rainer, Datalliance

Everyone is talking about collaborative replenishment these days, but not all trading partners are actually doing it yet – at least not in apparel and other soft goods. It's a time-tested process in consumer packaged goods – virtually all of the larger CPG suppliers have been doing collaborative replenishment with major grocery, drug, dollar and mass retailers for many years. And over the past ten years, the practice has become commonplace in a wide range of B2B markets...

The 2016 Inventory Emergency Continues
Suhas Sreedhar, GT Nexus

Prologis Inc., the world's largest warehouse owner, posted record profits this past quarter. With revenues up 18% year-over-year at $602 million, Prologis's growth dovetails news that warehouse rents in 2016 are pushing new heights. Warehouse vacancy rates in many major cities sit below 5% and a glut of inventory is building up in across retailers in the US.1 Meanwhile, consumer demand remains relatively high, tossing out an obvious explanation for the high stockpiles. Retailers are caught in a dilemma – they need inventory to attract consumers, yet they're not moving it very well. What gives?

Every Exit Is an Entrance to Somewhere Else: The UK's Withdrawal from the European Union
Melissa Proctor, Polsinelli, P.C.

In Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, playwright Tom Stoppard noted as follows: "Look on every exit as being an entrance somewhere else." This brilliantly sums up the recent Brexit decision in the United Kingdom, which will undoubtedly lead to new challenges and opportunities for companies engaged in global trade over the course of the next few years. On June 23, 2016, and to the world's astonishment, the UK voted by popular referendum to terminate its membership and formally withdraw from the European Union.

Will Brexit Disrupt Retail Supply Chains?

In a landmark referendum on June 23, 2016, citizens of the United Kingdom were asked, "Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?" 52 percent of voters chose to leave, which officially put Brexit – the nickname for the British exit of the European Union – in motion.

Listing on Amazon – the AmazonBasics Way
Rachel Greer, Cascadia Seller Solutions

There are two parts of any Amazon detail page – there's the top portion, sometimes called "above the fold" – and the bottom portion, which is the product description and A+ content. Only companies signed up as vendors or who are in the Amazon Exclusives program have access to A+ content, so we won't dive into that on this post.
