Retail Value Chain 101: 6 Questions Suppliers Must Answer When Setting Up EDI
Much attention is given to supplier onboarding. When a retailer begins doing business with a new merchandise supplier, the retailer must have a clearly defined onboarding process and manage that process carefully. This will set the tone for a successful, profitable trading partner relationship. The same principle applies for suppliers when setting up their EDI transactions.

SURVEY: State of Retailer-Vendor Supply Chain Relationships 2017
What is the state of retailer and vendor/supplier supply chain relationships today? Is it getting better and more collaborative - or heading the other way? What are the trends in chargebacks and deductions? Is the focus on improving supply chain performance - or something else?
In 2015, Supply Chain Digest released an important benchmark report on these issues and many more, based on survey data from more than 50 retailers and almost 200 vendors.
Now we're back in 2017 to repeat the survey and report and learn what has changed in the past two years.
It will again be very important piece of research that will provide interesting and valuable insight for the entire consumer goods to retail value chain.
We would appreciate you taking this brief survey. In the near future, we will send all respondents a copy of the survey results aggregated across all respondents. We know you will find it valuable.
All responses are strictly confidential at an company/individual level. That means there will be no results reported/discussed/etc. at an individual company or respondent level. These results will be reported at an aggregate level across all respondents only. We guarantee it.

Yusen, We Have a Problem!: The Wedding Photo that Stopped the Motor of the World
Kirk White, Yusen Logistics (Americas) Inc.
Kevin* had ONE JOB: to find the photographer. That was the motive for the whole thing. The wedding was in three months and his fiancé, Jenny*, had lined everything else up: facility, check…officiant, check…dress, check…caterer, check. Everything was in line and tip top but the photographer was proving to be elusive – June weddings and all. Calendars fill up and all the best photographers in town are booked well in advance.
Kevin was desperate. If he were completely honest, yes, he had procrastinated a bit and now time was of the essence. Who could blame him for continuing the search at work? What could possibly go wrong?
The Proposed Border Adjustment Tax Heads to the Freezer While the Renegotiation of the NAFTA Heats Up
Melissa Proctor, Polsinelli, P.C.
July ushered in significant new developments on the international trade front involving the controversial proposed Border Adjustment Tax and the renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). U.S. companies with international supply chains are urged to stay abreast of these new developments as they arise, assess how proposed changes to the NAFTA may impact their operations, and voice their interests to ensure that they are considered by key decision-makers and protected.
Is Decision-making Overrated?
Richard Wilhjelm, Compliance Networks
A rhetorical question? Perhaps. As someone who has made their share of bad decisions and then some, far be it from me to discount the value of good decision-making. But as conventional wisdom supported by popular business literature would have it, good decision-making is a major key to success. But good decision-making is not the only component to a positive outcome. Not only are good assumptions just as important as the decision itself, but of greater importance is the need for a rigorous process to continuously challenge our assumptions going forward. Let me explain.
