Spring has finally arrived, and I don’t know about you but I always look forward to the change of seasons.

To quote the ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus – “The only constant in life is change.’ And this thought rings true today as much as ever.  Terms such as e-commerce, endless aisle, circular supply chain, sustainability, recycled, up-cycled and more are now common in our retail vocabulary.  Retailers and suppliers now offer a myriad of ways to get product into the hands of consumers often challenging what we thought we knew about traditional retail.  You can now buy your clothes where you buy your groceries and secondhand goods are for sale not only in thrift shops but by some of the most recognized retailers. 

Yet, these evolutionary shifts have not eliminated the need to address the prevention of supply chain flow disruption, disconnection between trading partners, trial and tribulations of overages and shortages and return handling.

RVCF will looking at these issues and how they impact our traditional areas of focus including the “Perfect Order”, cash application through automation, deduction processing, audit at receiving a whole lot more at our Fall Conference.

As a collaborative organization where both retailer and their brands are member and or participate at our National Conferences, RVCF ‘s focus is and always has been to look at new ways to speed goods to market in a error free flow of goods, and for brands to realize improved relations with their trading partners, improved margin and be paid in full on their sales of goods. Truly a win-win opportunity for both!

Open Forum Discussions

RVCF offers Open Forum video-conferences for peer to peer discussion and sharing of best practices.  Minutes are maintained and distributed.   
 
Recent discussions focused on challenges associated with standardized carton sizes; sustainable packaging initiatives; preparations for the launch of Digital Link technology; best practices for Retailer-Supplier communications; changes in DC processing costs and current practices for documenting damages to shipments upon receipt of goods. 
 
The Retailer and Supplier sessions are open to RVCF Members only.  The EDI and RFID specific sessions are open to anyone regardless of membership status.  Pre-Registration is required - contact info@rvcf.com to learn more.
 
Business Process Guidelines

RVCF’s Business Process Guideline Work Group is comprised of business and technical associates from retailer, supplier and solution provider companies. The Group’s mission is to create and publish a set of Business Process Guidelines for Digital Communication & EDI with an initial focus on Error Prevention, Notification and Root Cause Analysis for Shipping and Receiving.  Contact shaupt@rvcf.com to receive your copy of the finished document.
 
The Group meets monthly via Zoom and their next area of focus will be on PO Changes.   Participation is open to anyone regardless of membership status.  Pre-Registration is required. 
 
RFID Initiatives

Work continues on the creation of a FAQ reference document being produced in partnership with AIM Global.  
 
Our next RFID Open Forums for Retailers and Suppliers will take place in July.  Participation is open to anyone regardless of membership status but pre-registration is required.   
 
Be on the look out for the announcement of a webinar featuring RFID providers who will discuss various aspects of RFID and present a brief synopsis of their service offerings.
 
Fall Conference Update
