Our Annual Fall Conference (November 5-8th 2023 at The JW Marriott Camelback Inn Scottsdale, AZ.) promises to raise the bar on retailer-supplier collaboration. 

With most of the nation's general merchandise and fashion retailers attending we are creating the perfect environment to address the disconnects or miscommunications that reduce speed to market and result in compliance deductions. In these tough market times, this can make the difference between loss or profit!  REMEMBER, RVCF EVENTS ARE NOT TRADE SHOWS - WE ARE A SOLUTIONS ORGANIZATION!

With high turnover and reduced head count in recent years, supplier representatives tell us they don't have the resources or the time to attend and that’s a shame because the companies that do attend are the ones that will be around five years from now.  Why?  Because they are the brands that understand the importance of collaborating with their retail customers.

With the trend toward increasing e-com sales, the need for inventory visibility down to the SKU level has resulted in the introduction of new VAS retail requirements including RFID and 2-Dimensional bar code technology.  We live in a time where merchandise suppliers are competing with overseas factories and the makeup of the global marketplace is moving toward “near-shoring” and “reshoring”. These topics and more will be addressed this Fall, giving attendees a leg up on their competition and a solid footing to remain competitive in an ever-changing environment.

Deductions Automation: Two Technology Competencies Every Deductions Expert Must Leverage

In this webinar, a panel of experts will share how Robotic Process Automation (RPA)  is helping extract debit memos and deductions from remittance statements inside portals, from EDI and every other format you are getting them in today (not just Big Box).  We will also explain how cash app exceptions like short pays are best automated through workflow so deductions are rapidly acted on across a business.  Our team will highlight how integration technologies like middleware are making it easier for business users to pull data from and update data to the ERP.  All this data gathering is the first competency to master.  

Beyond this, coding the deductions and tracking each step in the resolution process helps define cycle times to clear items with two clear objectives: 1. improve speed to resolution, 2. increase recoveries both in turn, drive lower DDOs.  For this second competency, you must deploy reason codes that are detailed in line with retailer compliance using extensive pre-existing libraries, update those in synch with your customers’ reason codes so you have a data standard internally and either auto-validated as straight through based on any compliances condition (see link) or pushed through aided workflows to the right departments.  This is a game of collaboration.  Learn how one organization is using these metrics very effectively to track the overall performance of the process, including root cause analysis.

Open Forum Discussions

RVCF offers Open Forum video-conferences for peer to peer discussion, benchmarking and sharing best practices.   Separate sessions for Retailer and Supplier are open to RVCF Members only and special interest sessions are open to all regardless of membership status.
 
Fraud prevention was the “Hot Topic” during our last Retailer session, specifically around the process for verifying accounts both at onboarding and when updates are requested.  Supplier discussions focused on shipping, packaging and labeling challenges especially with Walmart and Amazon.

Business Process Guidelines Work Group

RVCF’s Business Process Guideline Work Group is comprised of business and technical associates from retailer, supplier and solution provider companies. The Group’s mission is to create and publish a set of Business Process Guidelines for Digital Communication & EDI with an initial focus on Error Prevention, Notification and Root Cause Analysis for Shipping and Receiving.  Contact shaupt@rvcf.com to receive your copy of the finished document.
 
The Group meets monthly via Zoom and their next area of focus will be on PO Changes.   Participation is open to anyone regardless of membership status.  Pre-Registration is required. 
 
RFID Initiatives

Work continues on the creation of a FAQ reference document being produced in partnership with AIM Global.  
 
Our next RFID Open Forums for Retailers will take place on July 19th and for Suppliers on July 26th. 
Our Merchandise Supplier session will feature presentations from a panel of RFID providers who will discuss various aspects of the technology and present a brief synopsis of their service offerings.  Pre-Registration is required.
