Your leadership needs to understand the value of RVCF participation.

I’ve been in a management position of membership organizations for nearly 36 years. In all cases, the membership belonged to the corporation, not the individual. Yet, the relationship was always with that individual who was the primary contact and who participated in these organizations. The travesty that this creates is when the primary individual leaves the organization ... what happens to these memberships? In many cases they are lost because the company has no real understanding of the value those memberships brought their enterprises. I see this as a lack of internal communication, or in some cases individuals protecting their domains, and not sharing valuable information gained from these memberships.

The Covid 19 Pandemic created a structural change in both the retail and brand side, resulting in high turnover of staff, management etc., trade credit challenges and consumer-preferred shopping habits from in-store to online purchasing. RVCF adapted its focus to address these core issues including staff retention, reduction and promotion, and managing remote workers.

Retail Value Chain Federation (RVCF) encourages our member companies to add as many people as they like to the membership roster. We want all the competencies that touch the retailers order to be part of the information loop that shared by best practices, peer group conversation or meeting one on one with their retail trading partner.

RVCF explores all practices in both Supplier Relationship Management SRM and Customer Relationship Management CRM, including AI, automation and performance management between trading partners along with other deep-seated issues such as overages and shortages management in shipments. Our content benefits everyone in a member organization and our ROI is there for the taking. You just need  to make the time to take advantage of our offering.

Deductions Automation: Two Technology Competencies Every Deductions Expert Must Leverage

In this webinar, a panel of experts will share how Robotic Process Automation (RPA)  is helping extract debit memos and deductions from remittance statements inside portals, from EDI and every other format you are getting them in today (not just Big Box).  We will also explain how cash app exceptions like short pays are best automated through workflow so deductions are rapidly acted on across a business.  Our team will highlight how integration technologies like middleware are making it easier for business users to pull data from and update data to the ERP.  All this data gathering is the first competency to master.  

Beyond this, coding the deductions and tracking each step in the resolution process helps define cycle times to clear items with two clear objectives: 1. improve speed to resolution, 2. increase recoveries both in turn, drive lower DDOs.  For this second competency, you must deploy reason codes that are detailed in line with retailer compliance using extensive pre-existing libraries, update those in synch with your customers’ reason codes so you have a data standard internally and either auto-validated as straight through based on any compliances condition (see link) or pushed through aided workflows to the right departments.  This is a game of collaboration.  Learn how one organization is using these metrics very effectively to track the overall performance of the process, including root cause analysis.

Open Forum Discussions

RVCF offers Open Forum video-conferences for peer to peer discussion, benchmarking and sharing best practices.   Separate sessions for Retailer and Supplier are open to RVCF Members only with special interest sessions are open to all regardless of membership status.
 
Discussions of interest during our last Retailer session included Polybags and ESG Initiatives, Organizational Structure and Returns Management.  Amazon shortages and QA Audits for packing were the “Hot Topics” during our last Merchandise Supplier session.

Business Process Guidelines Work Group

RVCF’s Business Process Guideline Work Group’s mission is to create and publish a set of Business Process Guidelines for Digital Communication & EDI.   The initial document, focused on Error Prevention, Notification and Root Cause Analysis for Shipping and Receiving along with an accompanying Error Code Matrix will be ready for distribution soon.   Contact shaupt@rvcf.com to receive your copy.
 
Monthly meetings (via Zoom) resume on 8/17 and are open to retailers, suppliers and solution providers regardless of membership status.  Pre-Registration is required.
