RVCF Examines Fill Rate Challenges

The Retail Value Chain Federation (RVCF) published the results of their 2017 survey on fill rate performance, pinpointing areas where improvement can be achieved. The results were initially presented at RVCF's Spring Conference, held May 7-10, 2017, at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Virginia.

The objective of the survey was to determine how well retailers and merchandise suppliers were succeeding at achieving fill rate expectations in a collaborative manner. Feedback from both sides of the aisle led to RVCF undertaking the initiative.

"Retailers continue to expect fill rate requirements from their merchandise suppliers, yet many are reluctant to agree upon a collaborative forecast. More scientific tools are needed in the procurement cycle, especially from the predictive analytics approach," said RVCF Founder and Chairman Kim Zablocky. Victor Engesser, RVCF Retail Advisor added, "With the customer experience dependent on in-stock, finding a collaborative path forward to improve fill rate is imperative."
